Forward & Reverse Link Measurements With The Tektronix WCA200A Series Wireless Communication Analyzers
11/17/2006
The Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) specification provides an important pathway to third-generation (3G) global wireless communication systems. The current cdma2000 evolved from the cdmaOne standard under the guidance of the Third Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2). Originating in North America, cdma2000 technology was quickly adopted around the globe and became the first third-generation technology to be deployed. This application note addresses only the cdma2000 1xEV-DO (EVolution-Data Optimized) phase and discusses the use of the Tektronix WCA200A Series Wireless Communication Analyzer to make forward and reverse link measurements.

Troubleshooting Base Station And User Equipment Interactions In W-CDMA Networks
11/17/2006
The increased capacity and performance of 3rd generation telecommunication systems has spawned a growing array of mobile user equipment (UE) for voice, data and multimedia traffic. The dependable interaction of UE/BTS equipment is a prerequisite for customer satisfaction and efficient mobile network system operation, so verification of performance is important. This application note describes 3GPP uplink and downlink signals on the W-CDMA radio interface and demonstrates how Tektronix Wireless Communication Analyzer provide clear and comprehensive insight into these complex systems in multiple domains simultaneously...

Testing W-CDMA Uplink Signals For Conformance With 3GPP RF Tx Specifications
11/17/2006
Analyzing user equipment (UE) performance for compliance with applicable 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) technical specifications can be a demanding task. UE signal quality and power control are critical parameters to be controlled, especially as the UE moves through one cell’s coverage area and/or is handed over to another. This application note describes the 3GPP specifications’ test requirements for uplink signals on the radio interface and illustrates how Tektronix Wireless Communication Analyzers provide clear and comprehensive insight into these complex systems...

Signal Monitoring, Surveillance, And Real-Time Spectrum Analysis
11/8/2006
By Tektronix
RF signal monitoring and surveillance applications have special equipment requirements. This article reviews the basic challenges of intercepting and analyzing signals. Starting with overt compliance monitoring and advancing to the intercept of low-probability-of-detection covert signals, real-time spectrum analysis technology for triggering, capturing, and analyzing signals intelligence (SIGINT) is explained... -
Transient RF Signal Analysis In R&D Environments
11/8/2006
The quantity and complexity of RF devices have grown exponentially in recent years, and the rate of technological innovation in RF is still accelerating. As a result, the cost of RF components continues to be driven downward, leading to new applications of wireless technology in a wide variety of markets outside of the traditional military and communications industry. This tech brief will explain how the use of a Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer (RTSA) will help engineers and scientists overcome the challenges and reliably detect and characterize RF signals that change over time, something not easily done with traditional measurement tools...
