UG/Solid Modeling encompasses the powerful Unigraphics Hybrid Modeler
UG/Solid Modeling encompasses the powerful Unigraphics Hybrid Modeler, which seamlessly integrates constraint-based feature modeling and traditional explicit geometric modeling within a single modeling cockpit. Users take advantage of traditional solid, surface and wireframe functionality integrated within a feature-based environment.

The Unigraphics Hybrid Modeler offers more advanced techniques than any other system and has many distinct advantages over pure parametric modelers:

  • The Unigraphics Hybrid Modeler provides more flexibility in the design process. While pure parametric systems support only one modeling paradigm-constraint-based feature modeling-Unigraphics has a broad, rich suite of tools to support a variety of modeling options. Users choose the approach that most naturally supports the design intent.
  • The Unigraphics Hybrid Modeler allows parametrics to be added as needed. Pure parametric modelers on the other hand force models to be fully constrained before changes can occur. With Unigraphics, there's complete freedom in the design process, and design changes can be easily accommodated.
  • The Unigraphics Hybrid Modeler enables effective use of legacy product model data, including data from other CAD systems. There is no need to rebuild existing models as with pure parametric systems. Users protect their investment in legacy data and leverage the value of existing design knowledge in new product development.
UG/Solid Modeling is the foundation for all other geometric modeling products, providing the flexibility to edit anything – from features to freeform shapes – and to use commands for creating solids. When used in conjunction with the UG/Features Modeling and UG/Freeform Modeling applications, UG/Solid Modeling offers ultimate design freedom.
