Unigraphics Solutions announces Unigraphics Version 16 - a significant new release marking the introduction of Predictive Engineering. This new technology combines proven engineering practice with robust product modeling capabilities to produce applications that help the user "predict" the characteristics of a specific product.
As a result, product knowledge such as the optimal material or re-use of common parts can be digitally encoded and leveraged into every new design or system with menus tailored to a specific process such as mold design or die engineering.

Predictive Engineering adds value to the product development process by providing an environment in which engineering knowledge is captured and re-used, enabling the user to account for upstream constraints earlier in the design process.

V16's Predictive Engineering technology includes:
Process Wizards that integrate real-world expert knowledge such as best practices and behavioral considerations into full-function software applications that guide you through specific engineering activities.

Analysis and Optimization Tools include UG/Scenario for Motion+, for the virtual prototyping of moving mechanical systems. This integrated, associative capability is for the modeling, simulating and evaluating of large displacement complex motion of mechanical systems and includes support for static, kinematic and kinetic (dynamic) simulations.

Studio for Design, targeting industrial designers and stylists, includes tools for direct manipulation of surfaces, dynamic texture mapping, and interactive analysis tools, all of which are fully integrated with the rest of Unigraphics. These tools complement the creative side of the design process, and make Studio for Design a natural solution for the conceptual product design.
