Integration Provides Unique Visualization and Traceability Capability to Ensure All UML-Based Software Development Requirements Are Met

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2001-- Telelogic (Stockholm Stock Exchange:TLOG), a leading global provider of solutions for advanced software and systems development, today announced the latest release of Telelogic Tau 4.3, the industry's leading real-time software development tool according to industry analyst group Venture Development Corp. in its January 2001 report "Embedded Software Development Tools."

Telelogic Tau(R) is a best-in-class toolset that helps companies such as DaimlerChrysler, NEC and Nokia automate and accelerate the development of real-time and other advanced software through a complete and integrated development environment.

Telelogic Tau is based on a number of vendor-independent standard languages, such as UML for analyzing and modeling software, SDL for specifying and implementing real-time software and TTCN for rapid testing of communication-intense software.

"We are currently deploying Telelogic Tau for our software development projects," said Paul Ogden, Software Manager at Communications & Defence Infrastructure (CDI) Division of BAE SYSTEMS Avionics, the world's third largest aerospace and defense company. "Telelogic Tau was the number one choice for our application development and we are looking forward to the new release and the benefits it will bring."

"While version 4.3 of Telelogic Ta contains a number of feature enhancements, what is of greatest significance is the new level of integration with other Telelogic and third-party tools," said Ingemar Ljungdahl, chief technology officer at Telelogic. "The software development industry is demanding integrated solutions that reduce costs and time-to-market while increasing productivity and application quality. The high level of integration found in Version 4.3 now brings improved advantages to UML-based software development."

Industry-Leading Product Integration
As part of Telelogic's strategy to integrate its entire product portfolio, Telelogic Tau 4.3 has been integrated with the following Telelogic and third-party tools:

  • Telelogic DOORS(R) -- Acquired by Telelogic from Quality Systems and Software in August 2000, DOORS was named the market leader for requirements management by the Standish Group in its December 2000 report. By automatically translating requirements to graphical representations, it is now possible to trace requirements all the way to software modules in a UML-based environment, facilitating that critical requirements are met.

  • Telelogic Synergy(R) -- Acquired by Telelogic from Continuus Software in December 2000, Synergy was named the most advanced change and configuration management system on the market by Yphise in its November 2000 report. The integration enables transparent access to CM functionality during development.

  • Telelogic DocExpress(TM) -- Acquired by Telelogic from ATA in December 2000, DocExpress is the industry's most widely integrated automated documentation product. DocExpress provides automated documentation through combining data from multiple tools into a single concise view, maintaining up-to-date project documentation and standardizing style and formatting of reports.

  • Third-Party Tools -- Following Telelogic's open systems policy, Tau SDL Suite has also been integrated with a number of popular third-party products, including user interface simulators Altia FacePlate and E-Sim RapidPlus. When combined with the product's own unique simulation and code generation, rapid prototyping of user interface models is possible. This is a major step in closing the gap between models and final code.

Additional Telelogic Tau 4.3 enhancements include:

  • Improved Ada95 code generation in Tau UML Suite for controlled mapping of UML to Ada.

  • Strengthened XMI functionality in Tau UML Suite for ensuring smooth transfer of data from other UML tools.

  • Enhanced code generation in Tau SDL and TTCN Suites for the ASN.1 standard (used in 3G and Bluetooth) leading to better performance of wireless applications.

  • Support for non-English languages in all Tau tools, enabling the company to meet growing demands in Asian markets.

  • Enhanced graphical user interface based on requests submitted by Telelogic customers, including diagram layout, graphical compare/merge and scripting.

Availability
Telelogic Tau 4.3 is available now for Microsoft(R) Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and UNIX workstations. For the nearest location, visit http://www.telelogic.com/contact/
