Despite miniaturisation, it is therefore possible to maintain or even increase a motor's performance making extensive use of new materials and technologies.

The always greater effort of the industry to miniaturise, makes it equally necessary to manufacture smaller motors. The emphasis of this trend, since MINIMOTOR SA was founded back in 1962, is focused on the manufacture of small and smaller actuators. During the course of time, activities have expanded into the manufacture of DC-micromotors, brushless DC-servomotors, reduction gearheads, tachogenerators, encoders and drive circuits so as to satisfy all needs of

These engineered DC-motors, in many executions equipped with precious metal commutation, offer start-up behaviour at very low voltage even after long stand-by periods. The motors are likely to be used as directly controlled positioning motors, as continuous duty or servomotors directly driven by electronic circuits and are applicable in almost all control requirements e.g.: aerospace, medicine, industry, robotics, office and telecommunications, optics and hobby (model trains etc.).

Magnetic Micro-Encoders in combination with DC-Micromotors and various types of reduction gearheads give the possibility to extend the range of applications in motion control. These magnetic micro-encoders with only 10 mm in diameter in combination with the 10 and 12 mm DC-micromotors (System Faulhaber) are designed for indication and control of both, shaft velocity and direction of rotation, as well as for positioning.

Solid state sensors and a low inertia magnetic disk provide two channels with 90° phase shift. The supply voltage for the encoder and the DC-micromotor as well as the two channel output signals, are handled by a 150 mm ribbon cable and a 10-pin connector.

A range of interchangeable high precision/high torque in-line mounted reduction gearheads make these miniature DC-micromotor-encoder combinations the most complete and unique drive components for many motion control applications.
