Safran Project Enhancements Targeted To Support Top Tier Aerospace Project Management

New enhancements strengthen integrated PM Toolkit for complete project management solution.

Safran North America (SNA), one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of project management applications, announced today that it has released for user acceptance a set of major new enhancements to the Safran Project layer of its integrated PM Toolkit to support first tier aerospace and defense firms contracting with the United States government. The new release has been sent to selected customers for testing and is expected to last two to three months before piloting and final release.

The new features include: 

• Enhanced Complex Rate setup

     o Customization and definition of up to 20 derived elements, which will allow results to be grouped together and reported on such as indirect cost buckets and burden types 
     o Customization and definition of unlimited reporting sets tied to existing managed plans and scopes within Safran Project 
     o Definition of burdening rules to model the buildup of indirect cost from user specified formula’s 
     o Definition of primary rates and burdening rates with escalation over time 

• Enhanced Periodization Engine

     o Periodization engine will calculate the time-phased scopes based on user defined profile taking into consideration working calendar rest periods and store the results to time-phased tables 
     o The periodization engine will also calculate the cost based on the Complex Rate Setup 
     o Users can alter the time-phased base values by fiscal weeks/month intervals 

• Option for Application of Business Process and Intelligence Rules

     o Definition window to allow rules to be setup and configured as a global set that are enforced and tied to project(s) 
     o Ability to define rules of invalid entries for activity attributes, logic attributes and resource assignment attributes
     o Ability to define if rules are triggered at time of occurrence or at save point, as well as severity of rule and if it will prohibit the user from saving invalid entries defined by the rule 
o Precludes much after-the-fact correction of both the schedule and baseline, saving time, resources, and money

Combined with its latest upgrade that included support for the new DoD Integrated Program Management Report (IPMR), the DoD UN/CEFACT XML, integrated Monte Carlo analysis and Schedule Risk Analysis functionality built into its CPM scheduling engine, and the inclusion of leading edge indicators and further optimization of the analytics in the Proteus business intelligence layer of the PM Toolkit, Safran North America’s offerings provide a unique advantage over aging legacy systems that have largely continued to be used in this segment of the project management market.
