Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. vertical separation minimum (RVSM) air data system is a triplex system integrating three altitude sensing devices that monitor and compare three sources of computed pressure altitude. The triplex system help assure that an aircraft will not be excluded from RVSM airspace in the event of air data component malfunction.
The system's altimeters and airspeed indicators, in their self-sensing mode, act in combination as independent air data computers. The altimeters and airspeed indicators function as repeaters displaying information from the digital air data computer's (DADC) air data sensors and are also "plumbed" to the aircraft air data sensors and are equipped with their own, internal transducers.
The system consists of one digital air data computer, two dual mode, solid state altitude indicators, two dual mode, solid state airspeed indicators, and one multi-function, pre-select altitude alerter.
