Racal Satcom

The MCS-7000 is a seven-channel Satcom that enables direct, digital voice connection with ATC. Digital data will flow automaticaly from the aircraft reporting time, postion, altitude, and other aircraft information. It can support the CSS in addition to Inmarsat Aero H, H+ and I. The system includes a 6MCU Satellite Data Unit (SDU) and 4MCU High Power Amplifier (HPA). The SDU provides overall system control and monitoring, data modulation and demodulation, data synchronization and decoding, and voice coding and decoding for the cockpit voice and data services. The HPA is a linear power amplifier which provides the power gain to generate the required output power for broadcast toward the satellite.
