The PT6C-67 turboshaft engine series is the latest derivative
The PT6C-67 turboshaft engine series is the latest derivative of the well-established PT6 turboprop/turboshaft family. The PT6 has accumulated over 215 million operating hours with more than 33,500 units delivered. The new PT6C series, rated from 1,600 to 2,300 shp, will offer proven PT6 reliability, low operating costs and competitive performance in a cost-effective package tailored for helicopter operation.

The PT6C-67 series is a free turbine turboshaft engine incorporating a multi-stage compressor, reverse flow annular combustor, single-stage compressor turbine, and independent two-stage power turbine directly driving the output shaft. Engine accessories are conveniently grouped on the rear of the engine. The PT6C-67 series also features an engine electronic control.

Operation
The air enters the engine through the inlet screen; it is then compressed by a multi-stage compressor and fed to the combustion chamber where it is mixed with fuel and ignited.

The hot gas expands through three turbine stages; the first drives the compressor and the accessories; the other two mechanically independent from the first, drive the output shaft. Finally, the hot gas is discharged through the exhaust ducts.
