Pratt & Whitney Canada's PW206B2 Turboshaft Engine
The PW206B2 is built from the PW207 turboshaft engine power section coupled with the existing PW206B reduction gearbox. It includes a modified electronic engine control system to accommodate a 30 second / 2 minute OEI engine rating structure. Provisional type certification will enable P&WC to release production standard PW206B2 engines, with the new hardware embodied, to the Eurcopter EC135 helicopter production line in Donauworth, Germany. Full certification will follow after successful flight evaluation and testing of the new software for the Engine Electronic Control unit (EEC) currently in development at Eurocopter.
PW200 series engines also power the Agusta A109 Power, the Bell Model 427, the MD Helicopters Inc. MD900 and MD902, and the Kazan Ansat. This year it is estimated that the PW200 series engine will power over 70 per cent of new light-twin helicopters to be delivered, making P&WC the market leader in this segment.
The PW200 series, like all P&WC engines, is backed by the company's total customer support program. P&WC's worldwide services, developed over the years in support of its fleet of some 45,300 turbine engines, includes a network of field support representatives, factory-based technical support, a 24-hour help line for spares and logistics, dedicated customer training centres, and factory-owned and authorized independent service facilities.
