NBAA 1999 offers numerous opportunities to learn more about business aviation in a variety of specialty information meetings. These sessions include in-depth seminars, committee meetings, and maintenance and operations (M&O) sessions. The sessions are held at either the Atlanta Hilton and Towers or the Georgia World Congress Center. The following information is reprinted from NBAA's official conference program. NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP) Course

Day one of a two-day program. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) will offer a two-day NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP) Course, which will fulfill PDP Leadership Objective L2. Participants explore the fundamental concepts of leadership and supervision as well as strategies for motivating flight department personnel toward implementing organizational plans and goals. Topics covered include leadership styles, leadership models, classic motivational theories and how to employ all Course material in practical situations.

NBAA Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC)

Day one of a two-day program. Presented by Hoffman Pilot Center, the NBAA Flight Instructor Refresher Course has a definite business aviation twist. This standard course focuses on flight instruction as required by the FARs every two years but with a slant toward issues related to flying business aircraft. If your instructor certificate is due for renewal in October 1999 or later, consider attending this Course.

NBAA Flight Operations Manual Workshop

Day one of a two-day program. A comprehensive, up-to-date Flight Operations Manual is an important tool for every corporate flight department. This interactive Workshop will probe processes that can be used to ensure useful management results.

FAA Regulatory Compliance Seminar on Airworthiness and Maintenance Issues

Maintenance personnel within a corporate flight department will benefit from this comprehensive Seminar, which is presented by a team of legal professionals. Specific topics to be discussed during the eight-hour session include the political and legal framework of the FAA and FARs and the maintenance rules applicable to both FAR Part 91 and FAR Part 135. Additionally, the Seminar contains an in-depth discussion of the enforcement process and other considerations for the layman.

NBAA 8th Annual Tax Conference

Day one of a two-day program. The NBAA 8th Annual Tax Conference is designed to provide a basis for understanding how the appropriate tax laws apply to a particular aviation operation. It covers issues such as aircraft registration, ownership options, leasing options, application of the FARs, enforcement of the FARs and insurance.

FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) Renewal Course

This Course covers topics tailored to inspectors and maintenance technicians in corporate and business aviation. It is designed for the maintenance inspector, but maintenance technicians also are invited to attend. The eight-hour session meets the training requirements of 14 CFR 65.93(a)(4).

NBAA Human Factors and Automation in the Business Aircraft Cockpit Workshop

This full-day Workshop presents options to consider when developing procedures for the use of various automation equipment in business aircraft cockpits. This event also examines the levels of automation available in business aircraft.

NBAA 8th Annual Tax Conference

8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Conference
Day two of a two-day program. The second day of this Conference focuses on how taxes are applied to business aviation activities. Tax issues covered include application of the Federal excise tax (FET), how to collect and remit the FET, enforcement of the FET, state taxes, how to handle personal use of the aircraft, depreciation, and financial and tax planning.
