The 737, 757, and 767 HSTAs are linear mechanical ball screw actuators driven by electric or hydraulic motors. Redundancy is provided in the drive train and gearing. Mechanical brakes and safety rods provide fail safe protection. The 737 actuator transmits a limit load of up to 25,000 pounds. The 757 actuator produces a limit load of 38,700 pounds. The 767 actuator produces a limit load of 47,300 pounds.
