A group of aerospace and turbine engineers from around the country, attending a NASA Glenn Conference, recently witnessed the unveiling of the new Advanced Products' cutting-edge, high temperature metallic-composite seal.

Ideally suited for turbine aircraft engines, land based turbine engines and rocket engines, this new composite material answers the industry need for a material that is less prone to stress relaxation at high temperatures. Currently, there are no materials suited for seal use above the 1300 - 1400 °F. However, the design goal of The Advanced Products Company, using the new composite, is to design a seal that will function in the 1600 -1800 °F range.

With the industry's ever-present need to design engines that run at higher temperatures for better fuel efficiency, the overall response to the seal at the conference was overwhelming, with high interest from a number of major turbine manufacturers.
