Longueuil, QC (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Héroux-Devtek Inc. (TSX: HRX) (“Héroux-Devtek” or the “Corporation”), a leading international manufacturer of aerospace products, today announced that it has been awarded a contract by The Boeing Company to supply the complete landing gear system for the MQ-25 unmanned aerial refueling program.
“We are very pleased to have been selected once again by Boeing as a key system supplier for the MQ-25. This new contract award represents our fourth complete aircraft landing gear program collaboration with the world’s largest aerospace company and could represent a significant new long-term opportunity for Héroux-Devtek,” said Héroux-Devtek President & CEO, Gilles Labbé.
The MQ-25 is the U.S. Navy’s first operational carrier-based unmanned aircraft and is designed to provide a much-needed refueling capability. The contract supports Boeing’s engineering and manufacturing development program to provide four MQ-25 aircraft to the U.S. Navy for Initial Operational Capability by 2024.
Héroux-Devtek is a supplier of landing gear, spare parts and aftermarket services to Boeing for a wide range of other defense and commercial programs. This contract award will also have a positive impact on Héroux-Devtek’s Canadian supply chain.
“The MQ-25 program is vital because it will help the U.S. Navy extend the range of the carrier air wing, and Boeing and our industry team is all-in on delivering this capability,” said Dave Bujold, Boeing’s MQ-25 program director. “The work we’re doing is also foundational for the future of Boeing – where we’re building autonomous systems from seabed to space.”
