The Sandel Avionics SN3308 ColorMap HSI offers the essential features of an electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) navigation display in a standard three-inch instrument. The SN3308 combines the functions of an HSI, an RMI, a moving map and a Stormscope display into one instrument. By adding a 3-light marker beacon display and GPS annunciator display, the unit has the ability to become the virtual equivalent of an EFIS navigation display.
Sandel says its electro-optical technology eliminates the unusable area that surrounds most CRT and LCD displays. With a usable image spanning the entire instrument, the company says the 3-inch SN3308 provides more viewing area than most 4-inch displays. The SN3308 also uses high-speed digital converters to allow it to receive signals from most types of navigation receivers installed in general aviation aircraft.
