DRS Technologies Receives $13M Contract To Provide Logistics Support For U.S. Air Force Tunner Loaders
Parsippany, NJ - DRS Technologies, Inc. announced recently that it received a contract valued at approximately $13M from the U.S. Air Force to support Tunner 60K Cargo Loader/Transporters deployed at U.S. military bases worldwide.
The one-year contract was awarded to DRS by the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.
For this contract, DRS will provide logistics support, including field service support that keeps the product operating at a high state of readiness worldwide; sustaining engineering, which provides constant improvements to the Tunner platform; and spare parts support for the 318 Air Force Tunners stationed at more than 120 military installations around the globe.
Work for these orders will be facilitated by the company's DRS Sustainment Systems, Inc. business unit in St. Louis, Missouri.
"The Tunner is a linchpin of global mobility for our nation," said Thomas G. Cornwell, president of the DRS Sustainment Systems Segment. "Continued life-cycle management efforts like these are integral to the U.S. military's mission requirements to support the deployment of forces and equipment with high velocity to multiple locations around the world."
The Tunner was designed and produced by DRS. It is a versatile, mobile vehicle with a unit load capacity of 30 tons. Using the Tunner, military transport aircraft, such as the C-17 Globemaster and C-5 Galaxy, and large, commercial cargo aircraft can be quickly and efficiently loaded and unloaded, dramatically improving military deployment operations.
The Sustainment Systems Segment develops and manufactures environmental control units, fuel and water distribution systems, power generation systems, decontamination systems, electronic testing systems, and heavy equipment transport systems.
