The Naval Aircraft Collision Warning System 991 monitors a protection zone around NACWS equipped aircraft to alert pilots of nearby air traffic. It assists pilots in visually acquiring threat aircraft thereby enabling collision avoidance decisions. The system tracks up to 20 intruder aircraft simultaneously, generating both aural and visual traffic advisories. It has a selectable 1.5, 3, 5, 10 and 20 nmi horizontal display ranges and up to 34 nmi surveillance range. The product also features a relative altitude tracking range of +/- 2,700 ft.
