BFGoodrich offers isolated fuel quantity transmitter systems for B747 and B737 classic aircraft
BFGoodrich Aerospace (Charlotte, NC) announced it is offering isolated fuel quantity transmitter (IFQT) systems designed to meet the requirements of airworthiness directives 98-20-40 and 99-03-04, as applied to Boeing 747 and 737 classic aircraft that use analog fuel quantity indicating system (FQIS) indicators. BFGoodrich Fuel and Utility Systems (Vergennes, VT) manufactures the system.

Installation involves inserting the IFQT in series with existing wiring near the fuel tank. The IFQT performs all fuel quantity gauging functions and drives the existing FQIS equipment.

The IFQT system does not alter existing FQIS equipment such as the in-tank hardware, wiring, flight deck indicators or volumetric shut-off unit. As a result, spares inventory remains the same and flight crews use the same flight deck instrumentation and procedures. The company says installation can be accomplished without removing the aircraft from revenue service.
