DataFX is a battery and cell-monitoring instrument that automates the battery servicing process
Christie Electric Corp. battery and cell-monitoring instrument that automates the battery servicing process. It calculates battery capacity and provides a hardcopy battery servicing report without using a personal computer. The instrument is designed to monitor aviation batteries--generally of two types, nickel-cadmium and lead-acid.

To use the tool, a current loop sensor is clamped to the positive lead of the charger/analyzer. The negative quick-connect probe is attached to the negative terminal of the battery, and the positive quick-connect probes are attached to each cell in sequence for nickel-cadmium batteries, or in the case of lead-acid batteries, to the positive terminal

In operation, the unit automatically scans the complete series of nickel-cadmium cells and the operator can check on the process at any time. The display presents each cell voltage and the battery current and voltage. If a fault occurs, a warning light flashes and the instrument emits an audible tone.
