ARINC, AeroMech, and Shadin Will Offer an Affordable Cessna RVSM Solution

Annapolis, Maryland, USA, July 16, 2003—Expanding the scope of its services for business aviation, ARINC DirectSM today announced it is teaming with two other industry leaders—Shadin Company, Inc., and AeroMech, Inc. to offer an economical package of RVSM avionics and certification for the popular Cessna Citation 500 series business aircraft.

The new solution includes a special Shadin instrument cluster designed for the Citation, an ARINC installation kit, and an avionics Supplementary Type Certificate (STC) and Group STC needed to bring Citation 500 series airframes into compliance for RVSM airspace. The three companies plan to offer the package in September at an attractive price point. It will be available for use by qualified aircraft modification facilities.

The avionics suite includes Shadin's new ADC-6000 dual airdata computer, a direct Citation replacement with a right-side altimeter. This preserves the original Citation cockpit architecture while providing multiple-port capability and interfacing for the Flight Management System and other systems.

ARINC will also offer a complete installation service, height-monitoring flights, and documentation needed to apply for FAA approval. ARINC installations will be provided at the company's FAA-certified facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Shadin Company is providing the instrument hardware along with avionics support and a five-year equipment warranty. AeroMech Inc., world leader in RVSM certification programs, is currently performing the flight testing and measurements for the Group STC, to cover Citation Airframe Series 500/501, 550, S550 and 560. ARINC is developing the avionics STC and the complete PMA installation kit, and will provide installation support on a 24x7 basis.

"We are excited to work with AeroMech and ARINC to bring this much-needed solution to the business aviation community," stated Rasheed Reda, Chief Executive Officer of the Shadin Company.

Dave Doucette, AeroMech's Vice President for Business Development, called it "A well-engineered solution for operators of the Cessna Citation series." AeroMech has assisted in the RVSM certification of more than 4,000 commercial and business aircraft since 1996.

"This package is clearly the most intelligent and affordable solution on the market for Citation RVSM compliance," stated Dave Poltorak, Vice President of ARINC Direct Business Aviation Services. The Business Aviation Group leverages ARINC's extensive experience in RVSM and aircraft integration, and provides a variety of communications services, web-based flight operations support, and aircraft system integration services for today's business aviation.
