Ametek Acquires Gulton-Statham and Patriot Sensors & Controls

Ametek, a manufacturer of electric motors and electronic instruments, recently purchased Gulton-Statham Transducers Inc. (GS; Costa Mesa, CA) and Patriot Sensors & Controls Corp. (Detroit, MI).

GS' transmitters and transducers are used in commercial and military aviation for climate control systems, stall-warning computers, and door closure sensors. They can control the position of jet engine afterburners and intake units as well as the attitude thrusters on space launch vehicles. GS will be managed as part of Ametek Aerospace.

Patriot's products include aviation transducers, such as tri-axial accelerometers; position sensors, such as programmable limit switches, linear displacement transducers, and rotary encoders; and tank gauges, like point level and continuous liquid level measurement devices.

The company is a part of Ametek's Electronic Instruments Group. Patriot's aviation transducer business, located in Simi Valley, CA, joins GS in Ametek Aerospace (a separate division of the Electronic Instruments Group).

Patriot's Detroit operations are part of a newly-created division—Ametek Patriot Sensors, which will focus on level-measurement and position-sensing products.
