All Weather, Inc. Introduces ACE-IDS 2.0, Platform Independent Air Traffic

AWI

Sacramento, CA - All Weather, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high accuracy, high dependability weather information systems and meteorological sensors, today announced ACE-IDS 2.0, the next generation of air traffic control display systems. ACE-IDS 2.0 combines the reliability of the certified ACE-IDS hardware platform with the power of StormFront, All Weather's new real-time data collection and display software engine. Designed to meet the needs of both air traffic controllers and operations technicians, this robust and versatile software allows airports and radar approach control facilities around the world to design and build display pages to suit the needs of each operational position.

ACE-IDS 2.0 meets the exacting standards of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and incorporates additional flexibility and capabilities to support applications around the world. Unlike other air traffic display systems, the system is platform independent, compatible with a variety of operating systems including Windows, Solaris, UNIX, and Linux. ACE-IDS 2.0 also provides extensive data and trend analysis capabilities at up to half the price-per-workstation of other systems.

"AWI devotes significant resources to working with government and aviation authorities around the globe on increasing flexibility, reducing costs, and maintaining reliability in weather information systems," said Gary Wagner, CEO of All Weather, Inc. "ACE-IDS 2.0 was designed with these key criteria in mind and, as a result, has emerged as the new standard for air traffic control display systems. Each workstation combines the reliability of the FAA-certified ACE-IDS hardware platform with the flexibility of our new StormFront software, providing the ideal combination of performance and value. In fact, at about half the cost-per-workstation of existing systems."

StormFront: Multi-Platform Display & Analysis Engine
ACE-IDS 2.0 is driven by StormFront, All Weather's new, multi-platform software engine that provides real-time data collection, dissemination, and display. The software also provides extensive data and trend analysis capabilities, allowing in-depth views of both instantaneous and archived data. Database support includes Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL.

StormFront allows easy creation of bar graphs, line graphs, period group graphs, wind rose graphs, and trends. Calculations can be made for minimum, maximum, average, total, frequency, frequency distribution, and standard deviation for each data parameter stored in the database.

Unlike proprietary platforms, StormFront is compatible with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Solaris, UNIX, and Linux. The software can run on a standalone computer, on multiple computers in a LAN/WAN environment, and over the Internet. All data in the system can be published to the Web in real time and easily incorporated into a web site. Data can then be viewed 24 x 7 by pilots and other interested parties from anywhere in the world, even on computers that are not running StormFront.

Integrating Data Sources
An industrial-grade COTS/NDI (commercial-off-the-shelf/non-developmental item), ACE-IDS 2.0 is designed to improve efficiency and safety in the air traffic terminal. It provides air traffic controllers around the world with quick and easy access to millions of pages of information. Real-time information is presented to air traffic controllers on a single display platform, consolidating data from many of key weather and safety monitoring systems and other outside sources, including ASOS, Runway Visual Range, DASI, LLWAS, Coded Time Source, FDIO, AWIPS, TDWR, and more.

Remote Maintenance
ACE-IDS 2.0 includes ACE NetView, All Weather's extensive software toolkit for Remote Maintenance Monitoring (RMM). ACE NetView allows technical operations personnel to either locally or remotely monitor and manage the health of the system. The software is customized to the deployed hardware and can quickly isolate failed or out-of-tolerance components. This allows personnel to diagnose any fault down to the line replaceable unit.

Pricing & Availability
ACE-IDS 2.0 is available 120 days ARO. Prices for a complete workstation, including hardware and software, start at under US$10,000. StormFront software licenses can be purchased separately for use on other computer platforms.
