Aircraft Switching Unit

IEC Intl. Ltd.switching unit has expandable outputs and inputs with scalable audio and video routing matrix. As the main hub in the IEC Cabin Management System, the unit can be operated by soft switch panels, graphical passenger control units or touchscreens. It is controlled via two RS-485 control busses using IEC's proprietary device interface protocol.

The unit operates of the aircraft's 28v dc supply and will operate over the full range of aircraft power fluctuations and incorporates spike protection circuitry. A Passenger Address (PA) keyline is provided with the presence of a PA signal causing all audio inputs to mute.

The switch is fitted with analogue video through ports and a short range, high speed, multi-channel digital audio link output that allows cascading of a number of AVSU-Ms in a system. Each audio input channel has an independent digitally controlled gain to allow trimming of non-standard level signals.

The audio input and power output circuits are 600 ohm balanced; 8-600 ohm headphones can be driven with relatively constant power across headphone types. Video inputs are IV p-p into 75 ohm and the digital link input/output is differential 100 ohm.
