AIMING And Industrial Partner INDAER Took Their First Prototype Mylius MY-103 Mistral II Aircraft To The Air For The First Time On July 16th 2014

Mylius MY-103 Mistral II logs its first successful flight.

Medellín, AN (PRWEB) - The aircraft was put through some basic maneuvers during a one hour flight from Rionegro airport in Colombia, a runway with an elevation of 7000 ft also used by Airbus for the A380 hot & high testing.

As usual for a first flight, the gear was not retracted (the Mistral has a retractable nose gear). Captain Julio Consuegra, at the controls during the flight, confirmed that the stability and handling characteristics of the aircraft were kept intact for this Colombian version of the German design, although using full power from its Lycoming AEIO-360 engine, rated at 200 HP in comparison with the previous version limited to 180 HP.

The flight test program will continue in order to validate other aircraft characteristics like performance and new avionics systems installed.

The MY-103 Mistral is a +6g aerobatic training aircraft based on the BO-209 Monsun developed by Hermann and Albert Mylius and is to be type certificated under EASA CS-23 standards by AIMING SAS.
