AEVEX Aerospace Regional Standard Category DHC-6-400HG™ Upgrade For 6,350 kg (14,000 lb) MTOW With Garmin G950NXi/G1000NXi Avionics

San Diego, CA /PRNewswire/ - AEVEX Aerospace, a full-spectrum provider of innovative aircraft and advanced technology solutions with a broad portfolio of government and commercial customers, today announced an amendment to its currently approved FAA STC for the DHC-6-300 series. to include the Twin Otter DHC-6-400 series aircraft. This new product allows the DHC-6-400 series to operate in the Regional Standard category with a higher maximum takeoff weight of 6,350 kg (14,000 lb) when equipped with a Garmin G950 NXi/G1000NXi avionics package. "Our CDC-6-400HG™ STC will transform the DHC-6-400 series by combining a significant increase in payload capabilities with the latest Garmin G950NXi/G1000NXi integrated avionics systems," said Mr. John Zublin., Vice President of Advanced Solutions at AEVEX. "The collective package allows operators to expand their mission role, optimize payload and range, and add value to their aircraft while increasing revenue. We are working with Aerocorp Avionic to bring the DHC-6 series to -400 to a new level of capability by also incorporating the latest functionality from Garmin's GFC™ 700 three-axis autopilot." The DHC-6-300HG™ STC increases the payload capabilities of the Twin Otter DHC-6-300 series base aircraft from 5,670 kg MTOW (12,500 lb) to 6,350 kg (14,000 lb), providing an increased 680 kg (1,500 lb) or 12% overall and represents a 31% increase in payload based on an average empty weight of 3,492 kg (7,700 lb). Operations at the full 750 shaft horsepower of the PT6A-34 engines are enabled, along with the improved efficiency and noise reduction of four-blade "scimitar" Hartzell propellers. The modifications are complemented by other aerodynamic and structural improvements. As a Regional Standard category STC, the operators of DHC-6-300 and DHC-6-400 can provide commercial services without special purpose restrictions.

The navigation capabilities of the Garmin G950NXi/G1000NXi include required navigation performance features with integrated radio modules that offer WAAS/SBAS certified VHF, ILS, and GPS communication/navigation, as well as LPV approaches that meet ADS-compliant regulatory requirements.
