This advanced aerospace film eliminates discomfort caused by hot sunlight shining through aircraft's windows. Application is simple and economical.
What is it?
AeroGOLD™, is a layer of pure 24kt. gold coating on an ultra-thin, flame-retardant, optical-quality film. Its aggressive adhesive was designed expressly for polymer windows such as acrylic or polycarbonate (although it works well on glass, too). Initially classified "TOP SECRET", this film was designed for installation on the "Star Wars" spy satellite lenses. The material has proven its durability in the harsh environment of space, cycling daily between -380°F and +320°F. It's guaranteed to last the life of your aircraft.
What does it do?
AeroGOLD™ is installed on the interior side of your cabin windows. It reflects over 50% of the infrared (heat) radiation hitting your aircraft and virtually 100% of the ultraviolet. In addition to preventing heat from entering your cabin through the windows, the UV block virtually eliminates the risk of sunburn and interior degradation (sun bleaching, drying, cracking, etc.).
Another important effect of total UV blocking is the elimination of the so-called "black box" radiation. This effect, so named because it explains the propensity of dark-colored objects to get hot in the sunlight, is the result of an object's absorption of UV energy and re-emission as heat (infrared) energy. AeroGOLD™ remedies this as well.
AeroGOLD™ while providing all these benefits, still meets the 70% luminous transmittance required by the Federal Aviation Administration, meaning that it can be used all windows in the cabin.
How is AeroGOLD installed?
It's easy and cost-effective. AeroGOLD can be installed on your airplane without the removal of the windows! The application process is the same as that used for automotive tinting. Any local quality automotive window tinting shop will be able to install AeroGOLD in a minimal amount of time.
