The Kollsman All Weather Window Enhanced Vision System (EVS) is designed for commercial, business and military aircraft
The Kollsman All Weather Window Enhanced Vision System (EVS) is designed for commercial, business and military aircraft to execute precision approaches and safely land in fog, rain, snow and other reduced visibility conditions.

The system consists of a 1.3- to 5-micron forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensor, an electronics processing box, and an IR window installed in the aircraft radome. Proprietary video processing software algorithms create and display an IR image of approach lights, flashers, runways and taxiways, as well as other elements of the airport environment, (buildings, ground vehicles, aircraft, terrain, etc.), to the pilot on a head-up display (HUD) or panel display.

According to the company, a Cat. I aircraft using this equipment will be able to execute a Cat. I precision approach at a Cat. I equipped airport in Cat. III (700 ft. RVR) visibility conditions. The system can also improve overall safety and situational awareness in normal visibility conditions. At night, for example, other airplanes in the air and on active taxiways and runways will clearly stand out in the EVS image, thus reducing the potential for accidental collisions.
